MY LIFE

HR Professional — Professor — Music lover — Researcher — Backpacker.

Hello…!!! I am Professor Nisha Dang, an MBA graduate with a strong background in Human Resource Management. Currently, Deputy Coordinator of the BMS Department. A Human resource specialist with over 8 years of experience in industry & academic. I have 3 years of corporate experience and have managed all the aspects of the HR functions from recruiting to training to benefits.

So how did I develop the interest in the teaching field? After pursuing MBA from a recognized Business School, I started my professional career in one of the top company Accenture as an HR Assistant. The role was to recruit fresh management learners from different spheres and give them induction and orient them with the policies and the procedures. However, after my marriage, I switched my career from the service sector to the noble service area that is teaching. The urge to give what I have learnt from the corporates to the academics developed after witnessing the gap between industry and academics. The journey towards the teaching profession was not so easy as I had to clear the mainstream examination such as B.Ed and then NET. During this journey, I was associated with SIES College as a visiting faculty member. Later, I got an opportunity to work in an esteemed college i.e. Vidyalankar School of Information Technology (July 2016 onwards). It was the best fit for me because Vidyalankar is a place where academics is conducted in a corporate manner. It’s a student-centric college where student delight is a pursuit that is both achieved and aimed at. As rightly said “Great things happen to those who don’t stop believing, trying, learning, and being grateful.” Hence, I enrolled for Ph.D. with Mumbai University, attended many Faculty Development Programmes on MOOC and Online Teaching. I have written many research papers since it helps me to be updated, expand my skills & knowledge. I have also completed my one-month Internship with Wellness forever, I have developed and designed online training content for them.

To talk about my Co-curricular & extra-curricular activities I mentor and guide students for the various competition to name a few of them its Avishkar competition, National level Case study Competition, Tantra Vihar, V search (research paper presentation), etc.

To name a few of my achievements

  2. Guided team for case study competition – VANGUARD and the team won 1st Prize at the National level.
  3. Guided teams for V- Search and the teams secured 1st & 2nd Prize at the competition. Topics: A study on Education and Employment opportunities for Kinner in Mumbai,A study related to Motivity challenges faced by Divyang’s in Mumbai.
  4. Guided students for Tantra Vihar Competition and students secured 1st and 2nd Prize. Topics: To study and analyze the promotional strategies implemented by the organic industry in Mumbai, A Study on Work-life Balance of Pavement Vendors in Mumbai.

To mention a few of my Initiative at the college level:

  2. V –Start-Up: Help students to come up with some unique business ideas, in order to encourage entrepreneurship in college.
  3. National Level Case study workshop: Invited speakers from the industry to share their success stories. Mr. Jayraj Salgaokar Managing Director at Kalnirnay, Mr. Sanjeev Pendharkar Managing Director at Vicco Laboratories and Mr. Makarand Vagaskar – COO at Kohinoor Technical Institute were the eminent speakers for case study workshop. Invited Mr. V.S. Parthasarathy – President – Mobility Services Sector, Mahindra Group, Member of the Group Executive Board at Mahindra Group and Mr. Sandeep Grover – President Reliance Jio for Degree Distribution (Convocation Ceremony)

I like to travel, explore new and different places, and expand my horizons i.e traveling to explore the unseen. I also like listening to music – because according to me this is one of the ways to handle stress. In free time I love to exploring receipes, cooking new and delicious food items. I like listening to Music. Music helps me to increase my concentration and it motivates me to achieve my goal. My teaching Philosophy.

Everyone in the classroom contributes as a student, teacher, and thinker. I learn from students as much as they learn from me. All students are individual and everyone learns in their unique way. Hence, I use multiple methods of teaching (linguistic, visual, roleplay, team building etc) to reach students, so that no one is left behind. Finally, a closing statement on student/teacher relationship

A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others. According to me, a successful teacher is the one who has the ability to maximize the learning potential of all the students.
